PowrReverser™ 12F/12R transmission: - Smart power for demanding jobs
EH directional reverser leverEH directional reverser lever

The 12F/12R PowrReverser transmission from John Deere is designed for operators tackling heavy-duty tasks who demand maximum efficiency, control, and durability.

Key benefits for the user:
  • Greater operating versatility: With 12 forward and 12 reverse speeds, this transmission offers a wide range to adapt to any terrain and application, from fieldwork to heavy implement operation.
  •  Effortless direction changes: Thanks to the electrohydraulic directional lever, the operator can switch between forward, reverse, and neutral with a simple finger movement, without using the clutch pedal.
  •  Productivity in tight spaces: Ideal for loader or rear implement work where frequent direction changes are required. The servo-assisted transmission enables smooth, quick transitions without sacrificing comfort.
  •  Superior durability: Hydraulic wet clutches last much longer than dry clutches, reducing maintenance costs and ensuring consistent performance, even with multiple operators of different skill levels.
  •  Comfortable and ergonomic driving: The shift levers are strategically positioned for easy access. The shift lever is easy to reach, while the less-used range lever is shorter and differentiated by unique knobs.
  •  Total control with free hands: The design allows the operator to steer with the left hand, keeping the right hand free to operate the loader, implements, or hand throttle.
Additional features:
  •  Synchronised shifting in the 4 main gears ensures smooth operation.  Non-synchronised A, B, and C ranges offer added adaptability.

Robust design for quiet, safe, and long-lasting operation

The John Deere transmission is built with high-engineering components that ensure reliable, trouble-free performance, even under the toughest conditions.

Key benefits for the user:
  •  Quieter, smoother operation: Constant-mesh, helical-cut gears reduce noise and vibration, providing a more comfortable driving experience during long working days.
  •  Extended durability: The pressure-lubricated top shaft minimises internal wear, extending transmission life and reducing maintenance costs.
  •  Precise and safe shifts: Fully enclosed, rigid shift rods allow for a short range of travel and clear gear changes, helping the operator easily identify the selected range and gear.
  •  Safe, hassle-free parking: The positive parking pawl eliminates the need for a hand brake, preventing common mistakes such as leaving it engaged accidentally and lowering clutch wear-related costs.
  •  Safe start-up: The neutral start system requires the directional lever to be in neutral before the engine can start, adding an extra layer of operational

Increases productivity with mid-mount selective control valves (SCVs)
Dual mid SCVDual mid SCV

5E Series tractors may be equipped with up to four spool-type selective control valves (SCVs), a cost-effective and versatile solution for multiple applications.

Factory-installed dual mid-mount valves directly integrate a front loader, optimizing performance and operational efficiency from day one.

Joystick control leverJoystick control lever

Now, the 5E series tractors come with an ergonomic universal handle (joystick), which has been designed to be intuitive to use and more comfortable for the operator.

In combination with the factory-installed mid-mount dual hydraulic system, this handle fits seamlessly in the hand, for accurate loader control. Furthermore, it features a safety detent lock feature that prevents any accidental movement, allowing the operator to move around the job site with confidence, knowing that the material is securely held in the bucket.

A regenerative function on the joystick is available on the dual hydraulic valve, which allows for faster unloading cycles, thus improving efficiency in every task.

Versatility that boosts performance: Rear SCV valves on 5E Tractors
Dual rear SCVDual rear SCV

5E series Tractor are equipped with two economical and versatile spool-type SCVs. Two rear SCVs comes standard on 5E 4-Cylinder Series Utility Tractors.

Each rear SCV can be operated using easily accessible handles, and the couplers are protected with dust covers that keep debris out of the hydraulic system, resulting in reliable and long-lasting performance.

By using ISO standard thrust and drag couplings, operators are able to connect and disconnect hydraulic attachments even under pressure, without much effort. The result is faster, safer, and uncomplicated attachment changes.

Smart Fuel Savings with the 540/540E Economy PTO
Shiftable 540/540 Economy PTOShiftable 540/540 Economy PTO

Economical without sacrificing performance

  • The 540/540E Economy PTO allows the operator to select the ideal engine speed for each application, adjusting rpm according to the power requirement.
  • In Economy mode, 540 rpm at the PTO is reached with only 1700 engine rpm, which significantly reduces fuel usage.
  • Ideal for tasks that do not require maximum power, such as using mowers, balers, or cutters.

Less noise, more comfort

  • Operating at lower revolutions not only saves fuel but also reduces noise and vibration, improving the operator’s experience during long workdays.

Easily switch between modes

  • A lever allows easy switching between 540 and 540E, adapting to working conditions without compromising performance.
  • For high-demand applications, the 540 mode delivers full power at 2400 engine rpm, ensuring maximum performance.

Intelligent system protection

  • Economy mode automatically limits the engine to 1700 rpm, preventing overspeed damage to implements.
  • A safety interlock system prevents accidental shifting at high rpm, protecting both the tractor and implements and reducing the risk of downtime.
Superior comfort and visibility with an open station mounted on dual support
Top view of operator’s stationTop view of operator’s station

The design of the operator station in the 5E Series tractors, mounted on dual support, offers a wide, comfortable, and uncluttered platform that significantly improves the operator experience.

Thanks to its forward and slightly lower position compared to other tractors in its class, this design provides a smoother ride and improved visibility, ideal for long working days.

The gear levers mounted directly on the platform and the suspended clutch and brake pedals contribute to a clean and unobstructed environment. This configuration not only facilitates operator entry and exit, but also improves ergonomics in tasks that require frequent pedal use, such as working with a front loader.

For greater accessibility, all models include as standard two steps, one on each side of the tractor, that allow comfortable and safe access from any direction.

Practical and accessible storage: Toolbox and bracket for the operator's manual
Toolbox on the 5E Cab TractorToolbox on the 5E Cab Tractor

All 5E Series tractors are equipped with an integrated toolbox and an operator’s manual holder, designed to offer organisation and quick access in the field.

The toolbox, conveniently located on the left fender, allows storage of essential tools and spare parts, keeping them always within the operator’s reach. The operator’s manual holder is mounted on the right-hand corner post of the roll over protective structure (ROPS), ensuring that key information is always available and protected.

Both components are made of durable, weather-resistant plastic materials, ensuring a long service life even in demanding conditions.

Steps
5090E Tractor5090E Tractor

All 5E Series tractors are equipped with double steps, one on each side of the tractor, that facilitate access to the operator’s station from any direction. This symmetrical design not only improves comfort, but also increases safety when getting on or off the tractor, especially on uneven terrain or during long working days.

The steps are strategically located and designed with resistant materials to withstand intensive use in demanding conditions, providing the operator with faster, more stable, and effortless entry and exit.
